THE WHEEL OF SIN ON THE STREETS OF COLOMBO
May 15, 2012 | Saatchi APAC
“Mind precedes all mental states. Mind is their chief; they are all mind wrought. If with an impure mind a person speaks or acts, suffering follows him like the wheel that follows the foot of the ox.” – Yamaka Waggaya, Damma Padaya.
To celebrate the recent Vesak Poya season (birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha), Saatchi & Saatchi Sri Lanka took the streets with an ambient campaign for the Buddhist Cultural Centre in Colombo that brought Buddhist teachings of sin and consequence to life.
The Paapa Chakraya (Wheel of Sin) was attached to the rear of different vehicles including a bus, a van and a tuktuk. A Saatchi motorcade then escorted the vehicle through the streets of Colombo on the day before Vesak Poya. The cart wheel, adorned with hand-painted representations of Buddhist hell, caught eyes and turned heads of many as it spread the message to be good, as whatever sins you commit will eternally follow you.
